Two Yoga Apparel Brands to Have on Your Radar

There’s no shortage of incredibly cute workout wear out there. Whether you’re looking for something for yoga, running, hitting the gym, or even just want fashion-forward athleisure that’ll allow you to go straight from the coffee shop to whatever workout opportunity happens to present itself, you shouldn’t have much trouble finding something that looks and feels good.

But, of course, we’re always keen to check out gear from new and emerging brands — and when we find stuff we love, you know we’re gonna share it with you! With that in mind, here are a couple of brands you need to know about.

Flexi Lexi

This Bankok-based brand started out with a line of bralettes — styles that were fashionable and comfortable. From there, they expanded into yoga and dancer leggings in a wide variety of colors and patterns (like ombre, leopard, flamingos, pineapples and more), as well as swimwear, palazzo pants, clothes for pole dancing, leotards and tutus.

The spandex/polyester blend in the leggings feels super soft and fits well. The dancer leggings (so fun for a barre or dance class — I wore them to yoga and have pretty much never gotten so many compliments from strangers) have a slight V in the front, while the yoga legging waistband is flat and wide. All the leggings have a coordinating bralette (like the Lexi bralette), which are super cute and comfy, although if you’re busty at all, they are better for light activity in terms of support, in our experience.

ACAI

There are two big reasons to love activewear from UK-based brand ACAI. First, the Seam Free Inner Leg Technology, which helps you avoid friction during exercise. Second, we are in love with the waistband. It comes up high — really high — but more flattering than “mom jeans” somehow, especially when paired with a matching sports bra (like the Nikki Print Leggings — with mesh cut out — and Sports Bra). The high waist is also really nice when you’re wearing a sheer or open back top over it all — it provides a bit of coverage in an area that many of us prefer to keep a little bit under wraps. That said, it’s not hard to fold the waistband down if you prefer!

This brand is also committed to designing clothes that really work with curves, both in terms of cut and pattern, and that was definitely true with the ones I’ve tried out. Super flattering and totally comfortable.

Does this mean you should shy away from your longtime favorites? Not necessarily — but with new brands like this on the market, it’s definitely worth broadening your horizons when it comes to shopping for activewear and athleisure, huh?

Do you have any new or lesser-known brands you think the world should hear more about? —Kristen
